About Sue Bell . . .

The many talents and skills of SUE BELL are displayed throughout this website.  The oldest of seven children, Sue was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a river community where her ancestors pioneered throughout the region.  With the richness of the midwest forests and lakes, she grew up hiking, fishing, camping, and hunting.  Decended from a long line of artists and musicians, she finds herself creating images through canvass and film.  Sue holds degrees in music, psychology and education.  She currently resides on the island of Maui in Hawaii with her husband Doug and continues to paint and write.  Her three children are grown and also live with their families on the island.  

DOUG BELL / No Fear

Doug Bell, motocross rider, has been participating in local motocross competition throughout the State of Hawaii since 1998.  Now, at age 29, Doug competes in 250cc and 125cc expert divisions of the Maui Motocross Association's races held every other month in Puunene, Hawaii.  Doug has earned numerous trophies and awards and currently is perfecting his Free-style techniques for the halftime entertainment during local racing events.  He is owner of Fresh Start Maintenance, a restaurant hood cleaning business.  Doug and his wife, Diana, and one year old son, Ryder, live on their two acre home in Haiku, Hawaii.

SUE BELL / Artist

As a young girl of eight, Sue had her first art lesson in oil paints.  Her great grandmother, Elsie Scott Cooper, began Sue in the medium with a simple composition of pansy flowers.  Throughout the years, Sue has worked in oil, pastels, charcoal, oil pencil and acrylic mediums, but watercolor is by far her favorite and she is passionate about capturing unique compositions.  She has entered ART MAUI for several years and sells her portrait art across the country.

The Bell Family enjoys many recreational hobbies on the island of Maui.  Doug Sr. is a master diver and often is found exploring the reefs and sunken treasures off the Kihei coastline.  Doug Jr. has recently built a foam pit at his home on the side of Haleakala Mountain and on the weekends friends and family are always entertained with his new tricks.  Molly finds time on the weekends to enjoy the beach with her two year old son, Nathaniel.  And, Lucy has learned to master the waves at Big Beach in Makena!
